Δ When is New Member Recruitment? Formal Recruitment:
Cal Poly's Formal Recruitment is held the first weekend of Fall quarter and is open to all undergraduate women. During Formal Recruitment, potential new members meet women from all 8 Panhellenic Sororities. The houses and potential new members are matched through a mutual selection process, this helps potential new members find the right fit for them.
Continuous Open Recruitment:
Currently, Tri Delta and other chapters on campus are open to recruitment for all undergraduate women.
Δ What benefits does sorority membership offer?
All sororities pride themselves in their focus on the four pillars of Greek membership: Friendship, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. The Greek system offers an excellent support system to deal with the rigors of life at Cal Poly. Members develop close friendships that will last a lifetime. Most houses offer an academic program designed to enable the members to succeed in the classroom. The Greek system provides numerous opportunities to gain the leadership experience coveted by employers and grad schools. All sororities and fraternities host philanthropy events that benefit their respective charities.
Δ How much does it cost to be in a sorority?
Each sorority has different dues and finance policies. Our dues are $395 per quarter. New members pay an additional one-time fee to our Nationals which covers registration, subscription to our national magazine, the Stars and Crescent badge worn by all initiated members of Delta Delta Delta and other services provided by our National organization. We offer financing options including payment plans and scholarships.Unique to Tri Delta is our “No-Assessing Policy.” Our chapter does not ask for additional money throughout the year—that means our dues cover all activities we do as a sorority, including venue costs for formals and exchanges, initiation ceremonies, sisterhood events, philanthropic activities, and gifts for new-members.
Δ Does being a legacy guarantee me a spot in a sorority?
Being a legacy does not guarantee that a potential new member will be offered membership, but it is taken into consideration. Sorority members are able to send in reference forms which can be helpful, and are encouraged if you’re interested in becoming a Tri Delta and know a Tri Delta member. Click here to send us a reference for a potential new member.
Δ Can I go abroad and still be a member?
Yes! We encourage all of our members to participate in exchange programs to enrich their personal growth. Many members go abroad every year, and we don’t require them to pay chapter dues during their time abroad.
Δ What types of social activities do Tri Deltas do?
Our chapter offers a variety of social events for its members, including events with fraternities. We have themed exchanges with fraturnities, crush parties, date parties, formals, and other events throughout the year. We also have deltas only events such as Red Hot Pottery nights, movie nights, and our largely anticipated Disneyland trip.
Δ What kind of a time commitment is Tri Delta?
We do have some mandatory events and meetings. We understand that academics are our first priority, therefore, our members are offered flexibility to allow them to balance their academic, personal, and social lives. We also pride ourselves on our members' involvement in other on-campus activities.
Δ Does Tri Delta haze?
We believe sisterhood is based on trust and loyalty, not on humiliation.
