Academics

Part of our mission at Tri Delta is to broaden the intellectual life of our members, and academics are a top priority to the sisters of our chapter.
"The Fraternity recognizes that education is the primary goal of the collegiate experience. The objectives of the chapter's scholarship program are to provide opportunities for all members and new members to achieve full academic potential, emphasize academic excellence and career preparation, and establish challenging standards that will result in individual and group satisfaction in accomplishment."
Our academic development program is maintained by our Academic Development Chairman, Heather Hedeen, and offers guidance and growth to each and every sister that is in need of academic help from helping schedule tutoring sessions to preparing quarter long academic plans.
Academic Plans—For any sister who falls below the required GPA or any sister seeking assistance, the Academic Chairman will work with that member to make a personalized Academic Plan. She caters every plan to the individual needs of each member so that she can work to achieve all of her academic goals. Academic plans may include any and all of the following:
Awards and Recognition—We recognize our members for their academic efforts through such programs as quarterly grade raffles and, quarterly “Smarty Panty” awards, and the Eileen Blain Rudolph Award. Each time a member of Tri Delta receives an A or B on a paper or exam, the Academic Development Chairman gives her a raffle ticket. At the end of the quarter, at least one ticket is selected, and the member who received that A or B receives a gift certificate for a local store or for a day at the spa! Smarty Panties are also Victoria’s Secret gift card awards given to members on a quarterly basis who have the highest GPAs in the chapter. Lastly, the Eileen Blain Rudolph Award is a yearly award given during our Founder’s Day party with our alumnae. The Senior member with the highest GPA is given this award, and many times a scholarship accompanies it! Congratulations to our senior member Jaci Brownlee for receiving the honor of the Eileen Blain Rudolph Award 2007 at Cal Poly.
Collegiate Crescent Fund—Established in 2000 by a generous bequest from Sarah Shinn Marshall (Illinois), the Collegiate Crescent Fund provides emergency assistance to Tri Delta undergraduates after their first year of membership upon experiencing an unforeseen crisis that might force them to withdraw from school. The Crescent Fund and Collegiate Crescent Fund has granted more than $680,000 in confidential assistance to our members. The Collegiate Crescent Fund is specifically designed to assist Tri Delta members in their pursuit of academic achievement and keep it’s Deltas enrolled in school!
Tri Delta Scholarships—As part of it’s mission to assist Tri Delta and her members, the Tri Delta Foundation offers undergraduate and graduate scholarships to collegians and alumnae each year. Last year, the Tri Delta Foundation awarded $59,000 in undergraduate and graduate scholarships to 55 outstanding Tri Delta recipients. To date, over $1.5 million in scholarships grants have been awarded to Tri Delta members.
